Accreditations & Standards
At Austral Meat we remain a cut above in the area of hygiene and food safety. Here is a list of some of the external bodies that endorse our high standards.
Meat Hygiene Unit
Part of Primary Industries and Resources SA (PIRSA). This is the governing body regulating the domestic meat industry and setting the benchmark for standards. This unit is responsible for applying legislation, verification, standard, codes and guidelines to improve food safety in meat.
Meat Standards Australia (MSA)
A beef and sheep meat grading program designed to determine and maintain the quality of the product. MSA involves all sectors of the supply chain from paddock to plate. MSA beef is consistently tender, succulent and tasty.
Aus Qual
Third party auditing that is an accreditation body focussing on quality management and certification programs. Aus-Qual is part of Aus-Meat and regularly audit HACCP. (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point analysis) HACCP is a system based on a food safety risk assessment that identifies and controls food safety hazards.
Halal Certified
Requirements stipulated by the Australian Federation of Islamic Council. Austral Meat is fully accredited. Austral Meat process and deliver in accordance with stipulated Halal requirements.
